Workshop in voice and piyut with singer and piytanit Rimon Cohen and Rabbi Tzika Graetz

10 group meetings on Wednesdays (approx. once every two weeks, see below) at 20:00

The workshop will focus on two skills: the art of singing and the art of piyut (liturgical poetry):

• A musical journey to explore the secrets of ancient piyut
• Explore the uniqueness of our own voices with tools for vocal development and exercises to expand our individual expression
• Sing piyyutim in a variety of styles: from Hasidic courts to the communities of Babylonia, Morocco, Persia, Yemen and the Land of Israel
• Learn how to transform a piyut into a melody that makes the heart tremble
• Once a month, we will sing a piyut with the congregation

Meet Rimon:

Singer and piytanit, voice teacher and facilitator of workshops on piyut in Israel and India. A graduate of Rimon School of Music, Rimon studied Hindustani singing in India and developed a method for “discovering the voice,” a gentle method for training and healing the voice, which combines tools from Western and Indian music, and from the world of meditation.
