When you celebrate a Bar or Bat Mitzvah at Hod veHadar, you are marking a meaningful, major milestone in a warm, family setting.
Your child’s Bar/Bat Mitzvah will include a Torah Aliyah, family participation, Haftarah and Dvar Torah – according to your wishes.
Our community is egalitarian, so that girls have the same opportunities as boys.
For us, every Bar and Bat Mitzvah child and his/her family is an integral part of our community. That’s why the first of our 8-session Bar Mitzvah program is a Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat – welcoming of the Sabbath – followed by a community meal with members of our congregation. You become a part of our lives, and we become a part of yours.
We Are By Your Side Every Step of the Way
From the moment you meet with our Bar/Bat Mitzvah coordinator — who explains the Bar/Bat Mitzvah package to you – to the last cleanup minute after your Kiddush, we are by your side every step of the way. Our dedicated family liaison will be at your service to answer all questions, as well as provide you with logistics guidance.
A Knowledge Cushion Giving Your Child the Proper Support
Every Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a journey in Jewish values. Our teaching method is different from what your children experience in Israeli schools. At Hod veHadar learning takes place in an open and accepting environment. We explore, connect, use games and discussions. Through an exciting learning environment your sons and daughters will connect prayer with poetry, understand the relevance of Jewish holidays to daily life in Israel and become familiar with the different streams of Judaism. In addition, they will benefit from a hands-on experience for one of Judaism’s main tenets — giving to others – by working with the volunteer organization Melo Hatene, which organizes and distributes basic food baskets to needy Kfar Saba families.
Caring & Understanding Teachers for Individualized Training
Beyond our Bar Mitzvah program, we provide you with a list of teacher options so that you can find the right instructor for your child’s needs. Our instructors range from mentors with long-standing experience to talented high school students. All are capable of providing the proper guidance necessary for learning a Bar-Mitzvah portion. Each teacher has his/her own style and fee. Regardless of who you choose, you will be assured of receiving top notch teaching of the Torah portion and its presentation, as well as advice in preparing a Dvar Torah (speech) on the Torah portion.
Together, We Will Make it a Memorable Event
We look forward to sharing your simcha with you, dancing around your child when s/he completes reading the Torah portion, and being there for you during this momentous event.
